This release is made with a gorgeous waxy true English Bridle leather from Sedgwick. The 10oz London Tan bridle leather is paired perfectly with a nickel plated brass Quick Release Buckle, a contrasting wide navy Sedgwick keeper that is stamped with the Pigeon Tree logo, and it is all held together with hand stitched tonal waxed Ritza Tiger thread. I only have enough of this leather to make around 15 belts, one of which I've already claimed for myself!
The "Firefighter" Quick Release buckle was never actually used to hold up the fireman's pants, but rather, to keep the firehoses wrapped up. The quick release action allowed the firemen to quickly undo the buckle and gain access to the hose, when even a couple extra seconds could mean saving a life.
These buckles are functional, practical, and make a stylish fashion statement, all while telling a story.
The tension of the buckled belt will keep the buckle together, simply press down on the lever, and the buckle will come undone, allowing you to quickly remove the belt.
I bevel and burnish the edges with water and natural bees wax which give the edges a smoother hand feel.
English Bridle is the highest quality English leather, dyed in a traditional manner that gives a very nice hand feel and consistency of color. The leather is stiff and smooth and over time will become more and more supple, while maintaining it's strength.
Not to be confused with "top grain", or "genuine leather"; "full grain leather" is the highest grade leather there is, and will last you many lifetimes.
To order this belt, please measure one of your old belts using the diagram pictured above. The system that I use is the most accurate method of measurement, and involves measuring from the end of the buckle prong, to the hole that fits you best (this method accounts for any difference in length between your buckle and mine). You can add your measurement in the comments section at the end of your ordering process, or you can shoot me a message thereafter. Allow 2 weeks for completion.
