1.25" Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather Quick Release Belt with Solid Brass or Nickel Plated Hardware
The "Firefighter" Quick Release buckle was never actually used to hold up the fireman's pants, but rather, to keep the firehoses wrapped up. The quick release action allowed the firemen to quickly undo the buckle and gain access to the hose, when even a couple extra seconds could mean saving a life.
These buckles are functional, practical, and make a stylish fashion statement, all while telling a story.
The tension of the buckled belt will keep the buckle together, simply press down on the lever, and the buckle will come undone, allowing you to quickly remove the belt.
Handmade in England, the solid brass option is raw brass and will develop a striking patina over time. The rivets are solid brass hammered rivets, and are branded with "Pigeon Tree". The Nickel Plated Brass option will be secured with Nickel Chicago Screws.
The leather I use for this belt is 9-10oz Herman Oak Vegtan, one of the finest natural leathers around.
Note that despite the old product photos, chicago screws will no longer be used on the brass models, and the keepers for both brass and nickel have been upgraded to matching hardware from England.
This particular model is made with a 1.25" wide leather and buckle. Just a little bit narrower than the 1.5" one that I offer. See the size comparison pictured.
I leave the belt undyed and untreated. Natural leather possesses the wonderful quality of taking on a personality of it's own, and of it's owner. Over time the leather will darken and form a patina unique to your lifestyle. The example pictured is my own personal belt after several months of wear.
To order this belt, please measure one of your old belts using the diagram pictured above. The system that I use is the most accurate method of measurement, and involves measuring from the end of the buckle prong, to the hole that fits you best (this method accounts for any difference in length between your buckle and mine). You can add your measurement in the measurement section above, or you can shoot me a message thereafter. Allow 2 weeks for completion.
