1.5" Natural Oak Bark JFJ English Bridle with Double Prong Quick Release Buckle *LIMITED*
I am extremely excited to announce my Patent Pending Design: The Double Prong Quick Release Buckle!!
This has been a long time coming, and keeping it hush has been a very difficult task. I had to wait for the prototype to be made, sketches to be drawn and patent to be filed, and then I had to wait for the first batch of buckles to come in. Well, they're here, and they are absolutely beautiful!
The Double Prong Quick Release Buckle features the same quick release action that you're familiar with. Simply flick down on the lever and the belt will come undone. The tension keeps it buckled, and it will never come undone on it's own.
Handmade in England, the solid brass option is raw brass and will develop a striking patina over time. The rivets are solid brass hammered rivets, and are branded with "Pigeon Tree".
The leather is is really something quite remarkable, and I don't say this lightly, but this leather may be the finest I've ever worked with. JFJ Baker is the only tannery in the UK that still uses the traditional Oak Bark tanning method; combine that with the fact that this is a waxy natural bridle leather, and what we have is an extraordinary piece of leather, that is superbly hard to acquire. I've been fortunate enough to get exactly one bend of this leather, and already going into this listing have 3 belts spoken for, so that leaves only a handful to sell. Unlike most bridle leathers, the aging potential of this leather is very similar to vegtan, although it's waxed and quite water repellent, it absorbs oil like a sponge and will darken with use from handling as well as sun exposure. Pictures don't do this leather justice, and they certainly can't capture it's unique smell, which is surely from being tanned with oak bark.
Weighing in at 13-14oz, this leather is THE thickest I have ever worked with! It's even too thick to use a brass keeper with so I've opted for a leather one. Despite the thickness of this leather, it's actually one of the softest I've worked with as well. The edges finish extremely nicely, it's almost addictive to rub your fingers along them. The texture and color is almost reminiscent of horween's natural chromexcel, a little bit more grey in the brown than traditional vegtan.
Due to the thickness of this leather, please provide me with your standard measurement as instructed below, but I will be adding a bit of additional length to compensate for the added thickness. Only teardrop holes will be available on this belt (once again, due to the thickness.)
To order this belt, please measure one of your old belts using the diagram pictured above. The system that I use is the most accurate method of measurement, and involves measuring from the end of the buckle prong, to the hole that fits you best (this method accounts for any difference in length between your buckle and mine). You can add your measurement in the measurement section above, or you can shoot me a message thereafter. Allow 2 weeks for completion.
